Thousands Of Robots Is Not EnoughA Poem by Earl SchumackerMechanical alien behaviorThousands Of Robots Is not Enough
Armies of robots parade the streets of comfort Pretend children hand them balloons that pop They too are made of metallic alloys sharp Objects have been known to burst on contact
Computations are astounding, almost comic Intelligent machines have learned to laugh Flashing eyes look innocently at strangers As they march in perfect automatronic cadence To launch pads dancing almost in a trance
Downtown is billions of miles away as they continue Thousands more like them will have to be created soon Millions of rocket ships with atomic fuel as well Will be needed for the invasion of the planet Earth Which will take some time in planning Defeat will be easy because robots never sleep They just keep on marching down the street
