Trust The Rain to Come Again

The rain came with loud crashes blown

Houses exploded on impact into droplets

Into the night itself becoming madness

Becoming lightning without the flash

Leaving splinters to float downstream fractured

Unrecognizable fragments detached from reality

Trees used to stand for something before the rain came

Deep rooted before men came to chop them down

To become houses caught up in a flood one drop at a time

Then into wooden pieces shattered into nothing

What is this world coming to if you can't trust the rain

If you can't trust your friends to build things that remain

Perhaps the next generation of rain will be gentler

It does not have to be this way say the sages

Trust the rain to come again one day in peace

But carry an umbrella just the same

Your poem gave me a sense how self centered each new generation grows, and how people can have a tendency to create disorder and destruction, chaos if you will to get what they want out of life. Even at the expense of others. It reminds me we are all wolves at one or some point in our lives. And it also gives me hope. Hope that some of us see this and aren't afraid to shout the voice of change.

thoughtful and i feel a sense of longing for some sanity to reign ;) i don't suppose it ever will, Earl ... sages are too few and the ways of the "world" to strong for most to ignore ... would that we could cast our fates to the winds eh!? ... but even the best of us have to have a plan ... we do travel, after all, from here to there eh!? i like your poem .. great title! strong metaphor sir! puts me on a better course this morning :)
