A ToeA Poem by Earl SchumackerWatch your stepA Toe (Watch your step)
Take the left toe on the left foot The second one in from the end Between the little and middle Focus on its majestic quality Though alone and forgotten in a sock Keep it with you at all times for luck In an iron boot for safety sake Take it with you when you walk
A clean white sock is for comfort but not forever Toes don't mind enclosed spaces for short times They prefer pregnant beaches of sand and ocean Open to the public on holidays and special occasions
For purposes undisclosed at this moment The unnamed appendage remains intact As to why it won't go in to deep water Perhaps a fear of fish or man eating sharks Or something worse... the manicure
Left Toes are no joke in the ocean According to the ones we know Our investigations disclosed this They are the first to freeze When taking that first step in It is always cold but not lethal
Don't step on them They are not fingers They are not a fish If you lose a lower digit You can never count on it And never reach ten..... again
