At The Crack Of Dawn

At The Crack Of Dawn

A Poem by Earl Schumacker
"

What came first

"

At The Crack Of Dawn

The sun comes up as usual
Having nothing better to do
Rifles take aim and shoot
Fully unloading on the target
A small oval object on the lawn
Thin shelled after being laid
Discharged bazookas leave no mark
Dynamite with lit fuse explodes
Not to worry
A rooster crows after copulation
Another chicken creation born
Tomorrow is another day at this location
To take another shot
At a poultry mystery for breakfast
Solved only in the morning over coffee served
At the crack of dawn as cannons fire on
A scrambled egg should be easier to produce
If the sun comes up as usual
Having nothing better to do

"Thin shelled after being laid" ...made me laugh my friend ..:)
interesting musings, word play and metaphors .. you have got me thinking this morning ... funny thing as i have planned a breakfast of one scrambled egg, a big fist full of fresh spinach leaves and maybe a crunch treat of bacon bits .. stomach is telling me its time to get moving ... Good morning to you! its almost 6 am here .. the sun has not peaked over the hills yet ..but i am pretty sure it will ..as the stars are bright and i recognize Jupiter in the east ;)
