Sprinkles & Confetti

Sprinkles & Confetti

A Poem by Elephants & Coyotes

Sitting in the window,
Between a big, blue, berry muffin
And, a delicious, cherry strudel.

Juicy, blue berry bits,
Kissed with powdered sugar -
The muffin was my favourite,
But, the cupcake made me wonder.

A hat made of assorted creams,
Decorated with glitter,
So, pretty and quite the eyegasm,
But, can I eat it - I wondered.

Muffins and strudels,
Are a dime-a-dozen,
Though, some, wickedly tasty,
They are.

But, this cupcake was there,
Nonetheless…
It HAS to be edible, doesn’t it?

I only had a dime to spare,
To splurge and whet my buds,
And, I always stared at everything,
Before settling on the muffin.

But, this time I eyed the cupcake more,
Usually, discouraged from change.
Never, had I seen it before,
But, I chose it, all the same.
