I Don't Want Your Acceptance

I Don't Want Your Acceptance

A Poem by Eagergreen
"

This did happen to me I was so angry when it happened people think they're being nice but I'd they just throw a bottle at me then at least people understand why I'm mad. Please comment

"
In late fall I went to dinner
with my high school sweetheart
we went to a small diner in the city
it was warm inside and we sat in a booth,
I love booths always have,
we had to drive for an hour
to have a meal together
we thought we'd be at peace
but I heard it before I saw it
a woman called to us
"I love that you're so open"
I looked at him and he looked at me
the woman called to us again
we left
we had drove for an hour to be safe
yet we weren't

I learned that day that even those
who go to the parades and conventions
can be just as bad as
those who try to kill me
I don't care if you have a gay cousin
I'm just a person trying to live
I don't care if you support me or not
I'm just a person trying to live

Exactly! Excellent job. When I'm out with a woman I'm dating I just want to be looked at/treated like any other couple. People always feel the need to over extend their acceptance... it's nice at first but after a while the niceness rubs off.
