GoneA Poem by E Hartfallow'Twas the end of my life when I saw your face Youthful, unblemished yet eyes of great age Leaning into your strong embrace, I was finally safe You took my darkness, my pain, my woe With you, I could be who I am And let the memories of my past go For once, I felt happy again 'Twas the end of my life when you turned and fled from my heart, from my head I think of you lying in bed, my bleeding wrists, raw and red Now I am alone again Cold, frightened, alone Just as I was, those years ago Even when you say "Hello", from my heart you will go tucked away into my dreams, hidden with the monsters writhing under the stairs my time with you, my love, are now my nightmares Because you're gone.
