5. Landing on the star

5. Landing on the star

A Chapter by E.Ray

Tim gave up to slumber, with every blink of his eyes spaceship was sliding down, slowly swaying in waves. For several days it was gliding in a southeast direction and only dark space was lingering before their eyes like a cloth covering various shapes of objects. On the way they couldn't see any lost satellites. An arrow of the compass was swaying and you couldn't know where you are going to end up.

The boy squirmed in his sleep.

“I haven't seen anyone landing on the star,” mumbled Tim while arguing with his dreams.

The story Merry told, haunted him, it was about the ancient civilization of the star Sirius A. Living on a star! Nonsense, make"believe! And those Sirians would never get tired. Curious mind of the boy was weaving a logical net of thoughts, so his sleep was superficial. Tim crouched: why he fails, why must his muscle relax, head must get heavy, while the goodness occupies, the sleep is soaking into every thought, every patch up to the fingertips. It's impossible not to get tired!

Tim flinched.

“Possible, Tim,resounded voice of Merry, it was unclear which thoughts were said aloud, which were dreamed. Sirians instead of quickly weakening body and badly performing head, are using the third engine " their soul. Can you imagine " they are wasting their soul! Not everyone manages and today Sirius A is flying while kept by the energy of its last tenant.”

Merry told this story in such a way, that you would want to wake up from the resignation and use up your energy reserves. But to tell the truth, she didn't think about how the light of the star can be maintained. The other star, Sirius B, couldn't preserve its brightness and burned out, but Merry kept this to herself. It was dark in the cosmos, they needed not only a ray of the star to lead them, and they needed an earth's crust " some space to land their ship. What if the spaceship goes out as well? No, they must have hope and Merry with all of her efforts, while squinting eyes, was searching for a slightest object in the dark.

Tim woke up and now the spaceship was gliding without any swaying. Probably the slight slide downwards was fateful. Shortly after, meteorites poured one after another, starting from small pebbles. Yet it meant, that the object from which those split off should be near. Tim got into the largest thicket of smithereens without any fear for the newly repaired “Bird's” wing.

The spaceship like a spear soared forward and Merry jumped out of a surprise, “Look, Tim, what a great asteroid!”

Its surface was marked with an odd ornament and burrows. Most importantly, they found this area, on which even the biggest possible spaceship could land. This time it seemed, as there was no other existent planet in a whole space. Still Tim secretly believed that he is worthy of a bigger place, but what can you do now, when the engine was going out, eyes were closing... They needed rest, so the boy landed his spaceship without expressing any discontent.
