Stepping Stone

Stepping Stone

A Poem by Maria Isabella

(1st Verse)

All good things come to those who wait

But why do I find it so damn hard to contemplate

The fate that I thought you were my soul mate

Babe, what did you say, remember that day, I think it was Monday

You said that you felt the same

How can you in a matter of a day change so much

To the point where I start doubting your love

(Bridge)

‘Cause you took me by the hand

Told me you were my man

But it was all one big lie

You told me so you could get by

‘Till you found something better

Then you’d be burning all our love letters …

(Chorus)

You paved the way for success with a tile

Blinded her with your love for a while

Used her, told her she was your own

Then you used her as your stepping stone …

(2nd Verse)

Good things come in small packages

But why do I find it so damn hard to manage this

The hopelessness of all this, it’s pointless

Boy, what did I do, remember that day, I think it was you

You said that I had changed

How can you in a matter of a day blame so much

Upon a girl you were supposed to love

(Bridge)

‘Cause you took me by the hand

Told me you were my man

But it was all one big lie

You told me so you could get by

‘Till you found something better

Then you’d be burning all our love letters …

(Chorus)

You paved the way for success with a tile

Blinded her with your love for a while

Used her, told her she was your own

Then you used her as your stepping stone …

You paved the way for success with a tile

Blinded her with your love for a while

Used her, told her she was your own

Then you used her as your stepping stone …
