Bottled Inside

Bottled Inside

A Poem by Maria Isabella

(1st Verse)

When the doors are closed

And the lights are out

I take an overdose

Hoping it’ll knock me out

When things aren’t going right

And the pressure’s getting hard

I take a kitchen knife

Slitting the veins on my arm

(Chorus)

So many failed attempts at suicide

Sharpening my longest knife

Gotta get rid of the people by my side

They start stressin’ when I’m outta sight

Catching me in the act, saving my life

I tell myself to try it one more time

You don’t know half the things I keep bottled inside

(2nd Verse)

I prepare the hangman’s noose

And get the tallest chair

But it’s just no use

They cut it before I run outta air

I try swallowing some razor blades

And cause internal bleeding

But then the ambulance came

Stopping me from finally succeeding

(Chorus)

So many failed attempts at suicide

Sharpening my longest knife

Gotta get rid of the people by my side

They start stressin’ when I’m outta sight

Catching me in the act, saving my life

I tell myself to try it one more time

You don’t know half the thing I keep bottled inside

(Bridge)

Don’t make the same mistakes as me

The path I chose for my life was crazy

Just look at what this life did to me

I have lost who I wanted to be

This isn’t how I planned for my life to be

It has destroyed everything that was good in me

(Chorus x 2)
