Birds I & IIA Poem by EMGLike a bird she spread her evil wings and left me here She goes to settle down with another bird for now Her last words still pierce my heart like a spear I was left in the nest wondering “how”? All I could manage was a single tear, That ran down my face, no loving hand to wipe it away. I said some things you ought not of overheard What I would give to go back to that first day And for one more time I could whisper in your ear, I love my
bird. Flap your wings and leave here Make your nest elsewhere now Her words pierce my heart like a spear I wipe the sweat from my brow I was as noble as a musketeer You said you loved me, said we’d grow old together You walked over me like puppy chow You said things you didn’t want me to overhear Didn’t know I could ever allow- You to be
so cruel You
obviously thought me a fool O well; what’s done is done Now its time to have some fun. © 2012 EMG |
