the Lion's Might

the Lion's Might

A Poem by E.K.Donaldson

Deep red line across the horizon
Quietly sleeps a lion

Soon the clouds will make their appearance
The winds will make their interference

Everything must surely fear
Everything will shed a tear

Whimpering animals hiding in their homes
Ants race down a garden gnome

Plants begin to shake and quiver
While bees begin to shiver

A cold sweeps across the land
A salamander is on some sand

The deep red line suddenly hides
The blackness never goes on two rides

Here it is
It does not miss

All life closes up its door
How unfortunate for the poor

Some are left to fight
And they wish they could see the light

The lion awakes and roars
Soon the blackness soars

It leaves them all in light
And everyone sees the lion's might

In the true sense of the word. Soothing, gentle images and wonderful language.
