Chapter One: Soulmate Match CenterA Chapter by Elizabeth JamesThe door made a whooshing sound as Abby pushed the glass door open. Golden letters in a curly script were on the door, Soulmate Match Center. This building had only reminded Abby of how alone she was and that no one wanted her. She flicked at the strand of silver hair that fell in her face as she walked in. Finding your soulmate was supposed to be easy, a symbol appeared somewhere on your body and your soulmate had the same mark, once you got your mark you’re supposed to register it with the Soulmate Match Center so that they can connect with other centers and find your match. Abby had always been alone, her freakishness had made it that way.Eye color separated everyone into groups, that's how children chose their friends in elementary school. Her silver eyes separated her from everyone else. No one else had silver eyes, her eyes were always a reminder that she was different. Abby walked up to Lucy, a nice werewolf with soft brown eyes, Lucy had taken her case after Abby had changed caseworkers three times in a week. Lucy looked at her sadly as she walked up. Abby took a deep breath.“Hey Lucy, let me guess, no hits?” “I’m sorry A.J. no hits. Don’t worry they may be a late bloomer.” Lucy said brightly. Abby's thoughts had already turned negative. No one wants to be soulmates with me. A freaky, unnatural alcreature. “It’s alright Luc. I’ll be back next week.” “Alright, and I’ll call you if something comes up before then.” “Okay, see you then.” “Bye, A.J.” A.J made her way to the bus stop and waited for the yellow bus that would take her to school, a place that she resented, The bus came to a groaning stop in front of her she took the stairs two at a time and sat in the front seat near the window. Less trouble and bullying when you sat near the driver. Stressed Out by Twenty-one pilots played softly in her ears as the bus started forward. © 2016 Elizabeth James |
