Serenity

Serenity

A Poem by Emma-Jane
"

A poem from one of my first portfolio's on my Creative Writing course at university.

"
Deep lagoon.
         Black liquid quivers
         in the moonlight.
Whispering trees coil
                                    with age.
Hushed voices.
Admire the stars.
Refreshments of thirst.
             Symphony of crickets.

A penchant for sultry summer nights.
Resting boat tied.

  My
     feet
                              ache.
Concrete cold.
Concrete cracked.
Serenity differs from
the hustle and bustle of town.
Charming houses hang,
          over the water edge.
My house in the distance
is a mirage of my tired eyes.
Glance backwards.
                       Smile.
 Nothing compares.

An evocative piece! I really enjoyed the scene you created, tranquillity interspersed with the mundane:
My
feet
ache.
I really enjoyed it.
