Battle ScarsA Poem by EJ1
From the beginning I never liked you
Given a job that made you look like you cared Behind closed doors you looked like an angel But unknown to them I was being slowly mangled One reason happy to leave that place, I could erase you from my time and space After all these years I'm finally free Yet carrying permanent battle scars for all shall see Looking back now I see Money was all you saw in me In money driven worlds, we all need success Now I write this releasing my regrets Little people make your world go round You look like heroes that make foundations sound Yet an authors success lies in the content Because nothing will sell if it's all nonsense You owe all your success to me The work no one sees is what lets you achieve It's meant for us but you turn it around Stealing our glory then flaunting fame around town I never wanted this but had no choice Now everyone knows my scars, forever without a voice You've always used me Enjoy it, it's the last of me you'll ever see Now I'm of age and no longer afraid I speak what I please, I have my future made Always been a stair step for someone else Now ready to take control, It's the best I've ever felt I've been to hell and back, scars never removed But my life will never again be shared with those who never truly cared © 2015 EJ1 |
