I cling to the rung
aching fear tightens my hold
but makes my hands weak

*
screams travel nowhere
body entombed in hard wood
                  can’t see, can’t wrench free

*
blindly groping walls
desperate for a light switch
help... They can see me!

They could each stand on their own but I really like the progression of the 'story' in haiku form.
