Life At the Movies

Life At the Movies

A Poem by E.A. Novak
"

A quick little 10 minute poem I threw together. Its a poem I wrote when I became incredibly frustrated over a girl who wanted to be my girlfriend, but wouldn't commit because she felt we wouldn't work out as well as a couple. Sadly, I never gathered the

"

Our life could be like the movies,

So perfect and pretty with a twist.

We go through our lives without ever meeting each other,

But then we meet and we don’t want to love any other.

We always laugh and we are like best friends,

Yet we have so much more, we will never end.

I’m always there for you,

And you are always here for me too.

And then one day we make a mistake and we fight,

Then I try to win you back night after night.

You hate me so bad, but I don’t care,

Because living without you, is like a nightmare.

People try to cheer me up but it doesn’t work,

Only you and I know how much this hurts.

Then one day I finally find you,

I tell you I love you right before I kiss you.

And the music plays so soft and lovely,

Then you smile and realize, that you love me.

So what now? what happens next?

Does the movie just end and we assume we get married,

Or do we show the wedding with the traditional ending.

The people will cry and throw flowers,

And we will be off, no longer cowards.

This could be our life don’t you see?

Take my hand and listen to me.

This is going to be the story that ends happily.

I disagree, I think it IS good, and especially for a ten minute job! I like how positive this piece is, ahhh...the joy that exists in the beginning of a relationship - I think this is cleverley written and I like how you mention the two most obvious stereotype endings for chick flicks/romantic comedies - ie: the showing of the wedding (ssh...music gets louder and camera pans out) or that we just assume that the two involved end up happily ever after and credits roll....my fav part of this poem is the end line "this is going to be the story that ends happily" that one shot me in the heart..hehe..ok...I am a sucker for a romantic poem. This is all in all a great piece of writing - good on you for thinking up something like this in just ten minutes!
