NO CHRONOS

NO CHRONOS

A Story by Eagle Cruagh

 NO CHRONOS

Albert Einstein formulated E=mc2 in his
search for the meaning of time.  Actually
he found the measure of energy, but he
tried.

My point probably shows  that we live
in a rather large universe and time is a
rather complicated pull and push of the
planets.  We will not even mention the
other universes.

Guess you figured out where I was going
with this.  We live on a planet which is not
even a visible speck in the overall system
and on  this speck there is you.

Lonely is a concept that creates confusion
in a lot of people.  What are you lonely for ?
I guess it is safe to say that you are lonely
for another human being.   Fine, humans are
walking around everywhere, in cars, trolleys,
on their mother-in-law`s broom.   People are
just swarming all over the place.

Then why lonely ?   Because you can`t touch
them , or commune , or own them, or you know.

Now for the biggee.  They are all lonely too,
except for the one`s who own another human,
or , and this really boggles the mind, except for
the person who is a FRIEND.

I am reminded of the words of the poet who said
something like, "give me a house by the side of
the road and let me be a friend to man".

Like most of my reasoning this is rather obtuse,
but you probably get my point.  We just can`t get
a friend---- we have to be one

When we get a friend we can either marry them,
adopt them, hire them, but we never own them
and in the long run we will be lonely.
So, get a life.  Another way of saying that is ,
be a friend.

If you have a friend you will still be a speck on a
speck in the system, but now that other speck is
a lot like you and you will no longer be lonely .

This describes how I feel so well. I always feel so lonely in this vast universe, even when surrounded by other "specks." It is often hard for me to relate to people, but when I do find someone I click with, it gives my life light where I would otherwise get lost. I can only hope to do the same for them. Thank you for sharing these very interesting thoughts.

you can't own them, but you can own their hearts, no?
engulf their hearts, swap hearts, melt their hearts...
i think that is what were after. not the ownership of the person as a whole, but, a stock holder in their most valuable piece.
hey, that's pretty good.
thanks for the inspiration! haha
you should write more like this.

This is a good subject to write about. Many people are lonely because they don't know how to be anything else. To be a friend is to make yourself vulnerable, to be willing to open yourself, ultimately, to rejection. And yet, the risk is so worth it. We as a species are not meant to be reclusive.

To your poem, very good. Some thoughts are to work on the flow a bit more, perhaps expand to include what comes between, the gulf, from friend to universe, from speck to speck. If you are saying we are so small...how does that relate to being a friend? I see you are saying that lonliness comes from being so small but I think this needs more...I know when I am feeling lonely it isn't because of the Universe or my relative size. I think the piece that lies between is that willingness to be something in this vast world, and that calls for many things, one of which is to make yourself vulnerable, to do away with isolationism.

Just some thoughts!

I like your reasoning here.

Very well expressed, Friends are irreplaceable, they keep us sane.

Too bad this isn't a commandment, or ammendment. I myself have trouble putting myself out there. Taking that leap of faith in the face of rejection. Being alone isn't so bad, if you're good enough company. =)

Inspiring as always John.

I love this on every level! Your way of writing inspires one to think; like a flicker turned to a flame....thoughts rekindle the warmth of knowledge that grows to find contentment in true understanding. Ah such simple complexities...my passion! Thank you for your writings.

An Intriguing concept you have. I feel like a speck most of the time. I prefer it that way. Thank you for showing the reflection of your thoughts.

You really break down life in its entirety, You being up a lot of good points and break such a complicated matter, life, into a group of simplistic ideas that make sense of the matter. Tis amazing what the brain can ponder when there is free time on ones hands. We all go through a state of feeling alone and each individual goes through this at one point in their life but we are all really alone when you think about it; Quite depressing really. Just a thought, you have left me with alot to think about. Nice job

This is a great piece. So many people wander through life without really doing anything important or being a real friend to those who need it. We all meed to be loved and wanted, to feel cherished and needed. It's a human need and nothing to be ashamed about. You really hit the nail on the head.
