POSO LLANO AND DOBLE

POSO LLANO AND DOBLE

A Story by Eagle Cruagh

PASO LLANO

Larger relatives of the Paso Fino horse, Peruvian Pasos are Spanish-gaited saddle horses, distinguished by a smooth, four-beat gait known as the paso llano. Like many other breeds of gaited saddle horses, the Peruvian Paso is recommended for riders with joint problems or injuries, and is well known for its endurance abilities. Peruvian Pasos are considered the luxury breed among gaited saddle horses, because of the smoothness of their gait.

Once you have mastered the Paso Llano, you
must try the Paso Doble, or double pass.  That is a
dance, folks.
These Peruvians have a lot on us where it comes
to fine horses or a fine dancing.

The American Cow Pony is probably the most
versatile horse alive, but we still owe much to the
Spanish who introduced the horse to the Americas.

The Paso Doble originated in Crete, I believe.
It originated as the double pass, practiced by the
bull fighters in the early 1700s.
It is a terribly masculine pass which then  became
a part of their dance and eventually found it`s way
to Spain and then the American continent.

So, when you glide on to the dance floor and show
off your paso doble you are no longer fighting the
bull, you are full of it.

Very funny. Spanish dancing is beautiful; not the simple step which I can do, but the intricate steps that can tell a story...
