LOST WORLD

 

We, Charlotte and I, are now living in

an Island of Desire, which we call Favoro.

Our island is uninhabited, it is in the

middle of the Coral Sea and it is paradise.

Favoro is tropical, lush with fruit and

secure from the elements.

 

WEEK ONE

 

Charlotte and I gather buckets of wild

currants. These currants are extremely

sweet and we have tried them before, they

produce an excellent wine, dark red and

with the characteristics of a Burgundy.

We set the wine by the crystal pool and

cover it with a tarp, to "set".

 

Charlotte and I both like wine with our food

and it has worked well before.  When we

are in the midst of a violent storm we have a

glass of wine and recline by the fire on our

soft pallet , listen to the howling wind, looking

into the eyes of the person whom we adore.

That is probably the most secure, comforting

place on earth.

 

THE ISLAND

 

Favoro is in the shape of a giant horse shoe.

The open ends of the island are the port and

starboard legs of the island.  At the far end is

a small mountain, Mt. Baldy.   Baldy is the home

of the "cave".   Everything is measured from

the cave.   The left leg of the island is Port and

the right leg is 'starboard".   On the port side are

the waterfall and crystal pool, on the stbrd are

the vegetable garden and jungle .

At the end of the port leg of the island is our

beach camp and finally , entrance to the lagoon.

 

THE VEGETABLE GARDEN

 

When we first came to the island, we had a large

supply of vegetable seeds.   We planted those

seeds and since have had a flourishing vegetable

garden and flour beds where Charly plants flower

'cuttings, potted plants and experiments.

Sometimes we just love to come here, sit among

our rows of vegetables and flowers, count our

blessings and sometimes fall sound asleep listening

to the hum of the bees and whispering breeze.

 

THE BEACH

 

Our beach camp, near the end of the port arm of

the island is near the entrance to the lagoon , so

we have access to the lagoon, we can observe the

entrance to the island and the beach area is on

the calm, leeward side of the island, a place we

frequent a lot of our time.

We have a shelter here with fresh thatched beds,

thatched roof and sun shades.  A fire pit is used

often for roasting and barbecuing .

 

There you have it .   Both arms of the island are

covered with jungle.  Wild fruit grows in abundance

and the lagoon is teeming with fish.

 

One danger we are careful of.  The entire area is

occupied by sharks.   Very few have been seen in

the lagoon, but we still must be careful.  We can

run and play in the surf and swim in the lagoon .

I fear nothing.  The Bowie knife is always on my

side and I have used it many times, but I do worry

about Charlotte.  If she were to be bitten I would

die.   She is careful .

 

The island is considered inaccessible.  It is off the

beaten path, boats normally don`t come this far.

The few boats that do come out here fear the entrance

with good reason, so we are secure from strangers.

 

Like paradise everywhere,  intruders and adventurers

people who are lost and those seeking refuge are

a threat, but there are very few.

 

For most of the time we spend our leisure time

exploring our world, swimming, eating, obtaining

and preserving our food.  The rest of the time we

enjoy each other---- because, did I fail to mention,

we are totally , absolutely nuts -------------------------

Sounds like a wonderful paradise sort of place. I love your description.
I'd suggest you break up this sentence; the length seems awkward:
