If you were a little kid like me,

what would you do, Grandpa ?

Just have fun.

But, Grandpa, you were a hero ?

But, I was just have`n fun.

See, when you do what you want

to do, you are just have`n fun.

But, Grandpa you saved your men

in the face of enemy fire, you got

medals and stuff and everybody

loved you.

Nawww.  Nobody loved me, that was

just stuff in the papers.  I was just

having fun, doing what I wanted to do.

But, Grandpa, you came out of the

service and made a lot of money.

Were you just having fun ?

Yup.  That`s all it was.   When you play

you are just having fun.  If you cheat at

a game it is no longer fun, if you cheat

at love it is no longer fun, but if you

always play according to your ideals

then work and play will always be fun.

Grandpa, what`s an ideal.

Ask your Mother.

 

Having solved the most important question

in life, Johnny had others.

 

Grandpa, You will die pretty quick, so what

do you want now ?

To be respected.

What does spected mean ?  Are you spected ?

No, I don`t think so.

Why ?

Because I rarely see my sons and daughters.

Your Grandma is near death and everybody is

too busy to call or visit.  If we were respected

life would be different.

But, Gramps your sons and daughters are just

having fun, is that what they are supposed to do ?

Ask your Mother.

 

Grandpa, will I grow up to be like you ?

Probably not.

Why not ?

Because I should have better answers for you.

Because I should be an example on how to

lead a good and decent life.  You should be able

to point to a picture of your grandpa and say

that is the kind of man I want to be.

Nawwww---- you can do better than that.

How, Grandpa ?

You should teach your sons and daughters about

good values.  Cause them to love you for the

things in life that you value like honesty, fidelity ,

loyalty to father and mother, loyalty to friends and

employers.

How, Grandpa ?

D****t, go ask your Mother.

this is a touching write. grandpa seems humble and modest about the life that he's led. i like that he doesn't assume he has all the answers, rather, he does assume Mother does! wise, wise man, lol

Wow..I saw the funny in this...but I can't laugh. Why? Because there is so much truth in your words. It's the next generation that gets damned repeating our mistakes. Meaning we all need to take a long hard look in the mirror.
