WHO THE HELL  ARE YOU  ?

 

It may be more accurate to say,

who am I, they, them, he, her and anyone.

 

I am sure at some time you have banged your

finger, or toe or some other body part and

you were reminded that your body is just a

complicated mechanism for carrying around

your mind and soul.  Well, it is a bit more

complicated than that.  Sometimes you think

the sole purpose of your body is to get high

on drugs, to obsess with the sex parts or

maybe you have decided you are all mind.

 

We could explore the mind with a Ph.D in

Phenomenology, study Schuettz, Kant, and a

dozen others who were quite obsessed with

mind.   Maybe get a great old book like Dr.Karl

Mennenger`s  "Mind".

 

All of that stuff helps you to understand the

other person---- but, how do you understand

yourself ?

 

Maybe a few examples will help:

Once I was running an Oral Board to test

applicants who had passed their written tests

and this was the final  test for a complicated

job.   As one of the last applicants came up

and partially out of boredom, I asked , "who

are you."  After several minutes of fumbling

through answers like,  a technician,  a family

man, lonesome man and other idiotic answers

I dismissed the board and he was failed.

 

The following day this guy, who looked like he

had not slept, came in to my office stating

Mr. Crowley, I think I know who I am.

Of course he didn`t.

 

I was talking to a young lady on line and she

attempted to tell me , in depth, about her expensive

and "in depth" vacation to Fiji.  After listening to

what I could have learned from any travel brochure ,

I asked her if she ever ventured "outside the box".

By outside the box I meant , outside your own

personal conceptions, or misconceptions.

We can apply the same principle to Writer`s Cafe.

Then we would have to get intimate, find out where

a person is coming from.   Right ?  Of course if you

go there you are going to be ushered outside and

the door will be slammed.

 

I think that is enough of the homely examples.

So, who the hell are you ?

 

I am basically a sexual being.  How do I know ?

Oh, come to think of it, all men think about is sex

so I am not that special.

Haha. I do agree with Muse though. We're no different from the lowly animals if we're just that and not anything much more special. As for knowing who you really are, that might be a really hard task to do. However, I think that it should be like a flowchart. Start with everyone around you, know how they perceive you (I know you won't agree), and from that get to know yourself more. Explore deeply not just your superficial attributes and then get the union of these two... It'll give you a piece of who you are. But still, that won't be complete. There'll always be a part of us that we would never know. Getting to know one's self is just narrowing this little area in our lives. Sorry, I really tend to blab. :)) I don't even know if this answers the question, but anyway, you're raising really interesting questions. I would love to read more. :)

Very thought-provoking, food for thought kind of thing. I personally think it takes some time to discover our true identities. Maybe for some of us, faster than others. But we have so much time to grow within this world and within ourselves. Wonderful.
