DOWN AT THE FOLKS

DOWN AT THE FOLKS

A Poem by Eagle Cruagh
"

A little dig at the pompous

"
DOWN  AT  THE FOLKS

You might have noticed
No letters past our name
We just said it straight
We don`t play no silly game

"Brawling city of iron men"
You may recognize the line
I think he was poet laureate
Of our United States

Mark Twain or more
Was made a doctor some
But never tried to press
Unless maybe the Mrs. dress

Don`t put on airs
If you can`t take the heat
This is our world here
And we just won`t be beat

We admire the real McCoy
Pay our taxes and vote
Don`t  pretend that you are great
Unless you bring a note

I like this one very much not to say i don't like your others!
I watched True Grit on TV the other night of course the original.. JW had that true grit that i feel is brought forth in this poem. Pompous people are usually bores.. this is the perfect poem for those kind ,,,"We admire the real McCoy
Pay our taxes and vote
Don`t pretend that you are great
Unless you bring a note"
'unless you bring a note' .. haha good line !

The flow of this poem is smooth. I love the like "We admire the real McCoy" The last stanza as a whole really stood out to me.

Love this... you tell it like it is and like it should be. Too many give jaw service then fall to the weight of their words. Excellent!

Very good. I see these people daily. They look down on me because I work at a gas station, but where would they be in their fancy cars with out me, and all the others like me?

Had to read this twice and not because I'm tired either. Have to agree with the sentiment. Let me see you get your hands grimy and calloused and you will earn my respect, man or woman.

Oh I love this! It has been one of my pet peeves that some seem to think themselves superior because they have initials, letters, etc. after their name. But, we are all born with a belly button and as such all have the same human needs, weaknesses, etc. And we all expel our waste whether we use an outhouse or a golden, royal flush. LOL

Very well penned, with a good message.
