LAST TRAIN OUT OF BISMARKA Poem by Eagle CruaghThe last fight of a valiant horseLAST TRAIN OUT OF BISMARK
Busting bronco saddle bent
Lurching off the trail
Leaping hurdles in her path
She speeds onward with the mail
Darking sky opens gushing rain
Flipping o`er the furze intent
Dauntless courier will catch her train
Far away a mournful whistle sounds
Heaving bronco sucking air
No time left to breathe
Sweating horse will get her there
A plume of smoke on the horizon
Pancho strains the bridle
Thundering hooves drum o`er the prairie
As this valiant rider goes for broke
A pony with heart of champions speeds on
Thundering down the last embankment
Stumbling, coughing, lathered sides
Pancho racing his precious cargo
Overhauled the speeding train---he dies
