COWBOY`S  PRAYER

COWBOY`S PRAYER

A Poem by Eagle Cruagh

O Lord I’ve never lived where churches grow;
I’ve loved creation better as it stood
That day you finished it, so long ago,
And looked upon your work and called it good.

Just let me live my life as I’ve begun!
And give me work that’s open to the sky;
Make me a partner of the wind and sun,
And I won’t ask a life that’s soft and high.

Make me as big and open as the plains;
As honest as the horse between my knees;
Clean as the wind that blows behind the rains;
Free as the hawk that circles down the breeze.

Just keep an eye on all that’s done and said;
Just right me sometime when I turn aside;
And guide me on the long, dim trail ahead-----
That stretches upward toward the Great Divide.

This is nice. I don't know where you found it but great that you did and allowed us all to share in it.
What I like about this write is the cowboys simple desire to live honestly with straight-forward needs. It very much reminds me of the wild west when satisfaction came from real things like wide open spaces and an appreciation of nature and all that was required in life, could be packed on a horse.
The lone cowboy on a horse, the endless ride before him and a true heart. Bliss.

Very nicly written with a melodic feel throughout. Reminds me of rod Nicles (that's probably not how you spell his name) and the way he writes. Good job.

I am reminded of Ian Tyson here...... He may be the author of this great poem.
Having lived around cattle I can tell you, It is wonderful. If, of course, you don't mind working all the time.
Thanks for posting this little gem.

Well, I have a 103 degree temperature at the moment and still feel good after reading this. If they had prayers like this at church, I might actually go! But then again, I've always liked "creation as it stood" better too, so probably not. :-)

Beautiful work- I adore this poem!

"Make me as big and open as the plains;
As honest as the horse between my knees;
Clean as the wind that blows behind the rains;
Free as the hawk that circles down the breeze."

That was my favorite verse- you can almost put yourself in this persons possition and the freedom is almost tangable.

Amazing job- keep it up ^_^
