RANT ON POETRY

RANT ON POETRY

RANT ON POETRY

The act of writing a poem is sublime
It comes from a lack of style perhaps
Or maybe just from out the mind

Many love the  form or lack thereof
From which we gather thought
The little id and od that bringeth blot

Now that made no sense you say
Whee !  You`ll have your way
Cuz poetry is transient in style

I quote Wikipedia
Man of the day

Aristotle's work was influential throughout the Middle East during the Islamic Golden Age,[14] as well as in Europe during the Renaissance.[15] Later poets and aestheticians often distinguished poetry from, and defined it in opposition to, prose, which was generally understood as writing with a proclivity to logical explication and a linear narrative structure.[16]

This does not imply that poetry is illogical or lacks narration, but rather that poetry is an attempt to render the beautiful or sublime without the burden of engaging the logical or narrative thought process. English Romantic poet John Keats termed this escape from logic, "Negative Capability."[17] This "romantic" approach views form as a key element of successful poetry because form is abstract and distinct from the underlying notional logic. This approach remained influential into the twentieth century.

Thankfully Mr. Keats has been surpassed

In thinking while others more blessed

Carry on the crusade to find it nice

To just write down your thoughts in style .

Thanks for listening for a while

What fun observations about poetry! Poetry is great because the words don't have to be logical yet meaning can still be conveyed. And if the wording is obscure enough different readers could take different meanings away from it. I think the pleasing parts of poetry are the images and thoughts they inspire as well as the sound of words arranged beautifully.

Poetry is like that rose - 'a rose is a rose is a rose...and, such is poetry!

I enjoyed this post. It's informative, that is re. Keats... It's fun, just slightly tongue in cheek (I thi-i-nk) , but, but, but mainly it shows the poet in you, or maybe the non-poet in you ... or maybe both!

Fine post, thanks for sharing, making me smile.

poetry is so diverse it is its own world where writers meet and try to communicate to readers.

There are many good poems with insights being passed on, something we feel necessary to help in cultural evolution.
Others find poetry as a more effective manner of imparting their emotions or abstract situation to the reader.

Others use poetry to look more cultural,
Or get all the girls to melt, or look intelligent.

The abstract feature others use as an excuse for poetry leaves with so much room for others to interpret what would actually be a piece of garbage. This is the same thing we see when one spills paint on canvas and get admiring looks from people who want to look sophisticated. I believe that poetry has to jive and impart its message. Those who write an amazing length of vocabulary put together to make it sound good are merely seeking some sort of accreditation for something they are not known for.

Sorry, this poem also motivated me to rant as well. I guess it worked.

a very good and enjoyable piece

hahah - just writing one's thoughts in style. :) that's the key, eh?

i can't stand when anyone gets too technical.

if it feels good, and flows well... then rock on :)
