PARABLE OF MARY AND THE SNAKE

Long , long ago , in the mountain country of the North, lived a beautiful young girl we shall call Mary.

Mary lived in a small village where everyone was friendly and no one worried much about personal safety. People just watched out for one another.

One day, while out gathering firewood on the mountainside, a cold blustery day with snow on the ground and a freezing wind howling about the trees and rocks, Mary saw a snake, half frozen and crying for help. This snake was a most beautiful snake with a coat of rainbow hues .

Mary was a most empathetic girl, she loved everyone and every creature of the forest was befriended by her.
Mary`s heart immediately went out to this poor suffering creature. She cried out, "how can I help you , poor snake ?"
and the snake cried , "please, I am almost frozen, put me inside your coat so that I may live."

Mary , overcome with pity and admiration for this beautiful creature in need, picked him up and put him inside her coat
in order that he might live.

While gathering her firewood a short while later, Mary felt a sharp pain in her side. Startled , she dropped her load and
then remembered her guest. Why did you bite me she demanded. I just saved your life . Why did you bite me , why did you do this to me, fill me with your poison ?

The snake replied, "because, Mary, I am a snake."

I think I saw that coming. Somewhat like the guy that lived with bears and finally was killed by one. Our actions have consequences; some of them being quite predictable.
A good story with a lesson to learn, Eagle.

Good job. Flowed real easily, felt good to read. It reminded me of when I date bad men ini the past, lured in by their allure, and then when they fill me with their poisions, I can't understand why they would hurt me, or cause me harm, bec i never expected that. "bec cause i'm a snake," they would say, and they sure are. h ee hee. thanks for sharing!

Never trust a snake they may always bite, it also could hold some sexual overtones as well, Great story I liked it!
