[Her]

[Her]

A Poem by E

Your beauty surpasses all of the rest,

and though I love them clearly (b***s!);

I do not mean your breasts.

Your radiance smooths and fills the air,

supporting and framing and loving me,

through the anguished and tearful stare.

It is not you, enveloped in me, held in love upright,

but me in you. An oak within a willow,

learning to bend not break, be loose, not tight.

Your beauty surpasses all of the rest,

for it spills from your supple lips, and fingertips,

calming and reassuring the fears born in my chest.

I push and strain, to the precipice rim "

willing to jump, to fly, to die

if not to drown, then to swim.

But I know this to be false, so I hurtle away

I am not drowning

because you saved me that day.

Your beauty surpasses all of the rest,

your words, your mind, the embrace and

succor only your prose requests.

I once hid from the world,

in fierce lands with bold heroes

and maidens, hair curled.

Now you've struck down my walls,

and ravaged my "bountiful" lands

revealing to me the most sacred of calls.

For your beauty surpasses all of the rest,

your touch, your strength, the savage

tenacity and power you behest.

Your love stripped me bare,

yet clothed me in turn,

you broke my throne and cut my hair.

The frost coats the bulwarks and bricks

of the embattled "hallelujah"

as my sun doth turn, struggle, take licks.

But still your beauty surpasses all of the rest,

for winter will end and spring come again,

in patience I wait, our kintsukoroi love I attest.
