DemonsA Poem by EA poem I wrote about Dostoevesky's "Demons"Demons hide
the face, Of the Other
from view. Be it by
irony or politics, A mask is
drawn across, And hides
the connection between folks. Demons hide
the truth, Of people
from themselves. The power of
emotion is unrecognized, And to say
“a demon!” is far, Far easier
than to admit, That we are all possessed by ideas. Demons
conceal our fears, By replacing
them with superstition, And answers.
With answers
one need not ask further questions, And thus, Demons provide
a strength. Through
disconnect, dishonesty, and safety, Demons help
us live our lives. “I do not
wish you happiness, It would
bore you” Yet I do not
wish you demons, For in all
their strength, They may
tear everything apart. Demons is
literature, It is
emotion, It is plot, Demons is
life. © 2013 E |
