I stomp lillies

I stomp lillies

A Poem by E. Maggard

I stomp lilies
because
they infuriate and confuse me
they remind me
of -

Death:
smelling of my grandmother's funeral-
sickly sweet
arrangements in multitude
blaring sorrow.

Life:
blooming in glory every Spring
in every barren field
in each garden
testimony of their fertility.

To me-
This paradox
merits my size 8 shoe crushing
my discontent and perplexion
down
down
down
onto their delicately
petaled heads.

So goes Life.

Excellent form, flow and the chose of words amazing, To me-
"This paradox
merits my size 8 shoe crushing
my discontent and perplexion
down
down
down
onto their delicately
petaled heads."

I feel the foot stomping up, down, up down. Powerful write.

Death and Life represented by lillies and the confusion of a child.

This is as many things are in life, they symbolize both life and death for everything in life must be either born or created to either die or be destroyed that is the way of nature. Even though death is sad to those who must bear it in the end it makes us stronger and teaches us the true meaning of life, there is both joy and sorrow in all things just as the lillies are beautiful in their creation and must once again die to perpetuate the cycle of life.

This had a lot of emotion in it and I liked the way you put your thoughts. Nice write.
