The Recipe For Cool

The Recipe For Cool

A Poem by E.Gleaves

Firstly,
Find some quality Japanese anime-
Mix it with some prime cut
Food and Liquor*-
And Soak the entire entrée in food dye,
Colored, like the Harlem Renaissance.
Next,
Sprinkle some guitar riffs and a few
“ Yes Yes Yalls-”
Set the oven temperature to African Sex hot,
And slam the door shut.
Let it bake for about 21 years
And when all the child support payments melt away,
Congratulations,
You’ve just made your first Elijah Gleaves.

Not your usual tone but I like it, playful and mastered, well done

Nice save on the "firstly" issue! It just goes to prove you are not just half-baked. ;)

one of Anna's favorite poems by Norman Jordan goes something like

I was hip
I cool
Right down to my fingertips
then I fell in love

your words made me think of those others
