This Is Me

This Is Me

A Poem by E.Gleaves
"

Originally A Homework assignment I had some fun with it

"

It's 2am on a Monday,

Remnants of snow dust the streets like powder between the crevices of broken skin

Smooth RnB whistling with the winter wind

Late night jam sessions,

Sponsored by insomnia and powered by Pepsi mixed with Taylor's Port.

Dinner time.

Dinning Hall.

5pm,Wing Night.

I am a knight of the round, armed with half-washed utensils.

Teeth filled with the black mans kryptonite

My finger tips dyed red as if I've spilled another man's blood

I.lick. each. finger. clean.

Tears fill my eyes and my tongue tingles.

Foodgasm.

Thursday night. 10 pm.

Classic Literature lecture

Imagination painting images of Odysseus and his travels

The instructors voice trails, it sounds further. and further. and further away

Fast Forward. 12am.

Manor apartments transforms into club manor

Ne-yo "Single" is my situation set to music.

Truth Or Dare+ " Bad b*****s and cold drinks"=

Mission successful.

Late night conversations, the only voices I hear belong to a shadow of myself

And the woman slurring words in my ear.

Her eyes are red wine dark .

I sneak my lips along her neck

Moonlight blankets us like linen sheets.

The neighbors never learn my name......

Days in the life of a writer

Whose words are just the reflection of a reflection of an retro soul.

This is me, And this all I care to be.
