Der Schnee

Der Schnee

A Poem by E.A.Rose
"

The Snow

"

Winter will never be the same without you, my love.
Your sweet kisses sting my cheeks
as you remind me how much I love the silence.

Your deep chilled breath glides in and out of the naked trees
making them dance against their will.
covering them in your profound quiescence*

You fall faster than I do when the seasons change.
Heaving back and forth with love
and sometimes hate.
You like to pretend that the world is yours.
Your icy embrace pushes the life indoors
so you can play and pretend you make everything
perfect.

Everything about you is inimitable.
Sleek, ever-changing.
You fall at my feet making me remember
my deep ardent love for you.

our yearly affairs remind me how much I love to forget.
your bittersweet touch is sharp as it takes away
the dull, rthymic ache of my heart.
Even as I grow to hate your persistance-
I will always remember how you felt that very first night
of winter.
