Traveling without speaking, but wanting to

Traveling without speaking, but wanting to

A Poem by E.A.Rose

At trainstops in Buffalo

the travelers like to chit chat

to take the edge off of the itch

to keep moving

keep going.

keep going.

keep going.

The man in the pale yellow bowler cap

whispers gently to the weather beaten widow next to him

but the woman says nothing

because she no hablo espagnol.

They find it hard to communicate

parce qu' elle parle francais.

But when she looks at him

she is proud to discover that their hands

and eyes, speak the same language

When the train heaves forward from its motionless slumber

the woman's eyes find their way back to the romance novel in her lap

and the man's hands retreat to his side

The travelers on the train slow down

in the knowledge that they are still moving fast.

Keep going.

Keep going.

Keep going.

This was a wonderful read! In this day and age verbal communication can be very difficult with all the different languages that have migrated to this land that we call home. I agree truly that, those hands and eyes and gestures are the universal language. You have captured a great image!

Note, there were some minor spelling errors, but other than that, this was spot on!
Great Write! Welcome to the WC! :)
