Autumn LeavesA Poem by EliAutumn leaves swirled in delight Around a foundation of sand Once brilliant and young structure it was Now fades through a cold gentle wind. With day turned to night, Pursuit forever turned away A lost attempt to relieve a heart Moon and stars, forever apart.
No longer will Spring flowers bloom with might Come the end of Winter But will lie vibrant and beautiful still In cold portraits of lost time. A strength of loss impels her soul Bringing her about darkened meadows Away from melodies of luscious gardens Persuading her from illuminous sight
What is her mind, without its soul? In the realm of a brightened land A person need not a self-thought hand But listen to their self-righted god. And crows above call and seek Louder and louder they make her weep Red is the eyes from lack of sleep Dawn, for her, will not be seen.
