Tree's LeafA Poem by EliA poem I just whipped up when I was in the mood to write. I hope you enjoy it.“Just one leaf,” said the tree to I “to color in the wind and blossom away for the land beyond my outstretched arms.”
“Must it be,” asked I to the tree “that it be so soon? I haven't really grown, nor much talent shown to thee whom beholds me.”
“Listen to me,” said the tree to I “do you see these leaves? they haven't grown nor much talent shown to me who lets them be.”
“Why is it me,” pleaded I to the tree “who is the only leaf that does these things. I do nothing special, why is it me?”
“You are my son,” whispered the tree to I “only I held you here, only I watched you here, and only I loved you here. Always, you are my son.”
slowly, the tree faded as nature grasped me once again, free to the wind but held to my heart as each second grows and swallows me whole. © 2013 EliAuthor's Note
