An exercise in analogyA Poem by TonyIf nothing else, I'd like to use my repetitive depressing yet inspirational thought to expand my abilities in different methods of symbolism. Analogy is obviously the direct link there.I'm looking for a word,
I know it isn't glue.
Sure it holds these things together,
that I know is true.
Still the bond is lasting,
and that much can't relate.
It's a fact this scene's contrasting,
that you can't debate.
Tape just won't work either.
True it's temporary,
but only once it's used to bind,
its purpose then is buried.
Tacks can do some damage,
if only just a little,
but we're two among the gamut
and our paper hearts are brittle.
Velcro's what I'm looking for,
it binds but not for good.
If you decide to try another time,
as once, it would. © 2008 TonyAuthor's Note
