Skirmish

Skirmish

A Poem by getinthecarplease

Lynched by fear as a crimson tear floats on
Trojans march as fools to the illusory khan
Miracles guided by the blind cripple's eye
The fortress city will gleam as lovers die
Broken veils lie upon the insane street
Along bloodied shores by which the prophecies meet
Heroes bludgeoned with hubris and gold
Allegories shiver as their rights are sold
A traveler's dream is killed in the granary hall
Fortunes are corrupted upon the tenement wall
Horror trials revealed the daughter's curse
The actors stoned by the doctor and nurse
