Before Metaphors

Before Metaphors

A Poem by apennylate
"

Metal forged

"
Before the metaphors and metal forged
I sat ignored and lonesome
alone and broken
Groanin' in an ocean of token defeat
rote motions
dead feet
My feats retreat
bleeding dreams and fleeced sheep
eaten lacking wheat
a sheath for elite meat treats and bleep heaps
Driven deeper steeper
hear her cry when satellites fly
I sit outside and mind my own business
but in this bees nest I'm best before checks in reality
I'm a liability
to the masks of sentimental sentinels
brandishing fundamental finality on the mantle of rivalry
Sodden grease and I follow she
all of me
falling free
solemn freeze
I'm free-falling asleep

I keep returning to this poem solely because of the well-crafted mastery etched behind every word. It flows as easily on the tongue as smooth brandy, and it is truly stunning what a talented poet can accomplish with just a few simple letters. Bravo! I will continue to enjoy this many times over.

I am glad one of us likes this poem that much...
"Before the metaphors and metal forged I sat ignored and lonesome"

Oh woe is me. Your writing pretty much reads like Lydia's letter in Beetlejuice.

" I sit outside and mind my own business..."

Naaa. Were that true I'd not be here.

I feel like this poem just swept me off my feet and whisked me far away. The way you put words together leaves me in awe. A poem I want to keep getting lost in.
