Pictures last longer

Pictures last longer

A Poem by WayzWithWordz

I remember the first day we met

You caught me in a meaningful stare

And you said “if you like what you see, take a picture; it will last longer”

And before I could think, “that was rude”

I said “good idea”

So I took a mental picture and it lasted long

Long enough for me to persuade you to drop your guard

Long enough for me to get to know you

Just in time for me to show you

That my stare was a sign of true interest

And that I would happily invest

Millions of dollars worth of time

To make you happy

And it’s crazy because today you told the photographer

“Take a picture, it will last forever”

Without trying to sound clever

And minus the rude undertone

And we have lasting memories all over our home

And I take more photos, mentally, than the paparazzi

Capturing you in every moment in your life

I took a picture of you on Christmas

And it lasted longer

I took one on our daughter’s birthday

And it lasted longer

I took one on every date

And it has lasted longer

But I don’t use my camera

During our heated debates

I’ve always listen to what you’ve said

I took that picture in my head

And it will last forever

And so will we
