I'd Rather

 

I would much rather

Carefully gather

My thoughts and write in the dark

So I can be left alone by anything man-made

Just me, silence, and man-made poetry

 

I’d much rather write in the park

So the pigeons can clap for me

And spread my unspoken words to untapped ears

And maybe the sun

Will focus only on me

Until I am done

 

Sometimes I’d rather write continuously from the start

So there will not be a break in emotion

So maybe I could finish a notebook in one setting

Instead of coming back to it later and regretting

What was written

 

Maybe I will go to the park

Not in the day but when it’s dark

With one piece of paper

And finish whatever poem I may start
