Eyes Open

Eyes Open

A Poem by WayzWithWordz

Eyes Open, Eyes Closed

Eyes open

Thoughts arise, hoping

Today will be as blessed as the last

But I won’t dwell on the past

Because I lay here with my future

Coal is mined from the deepest crevasses of my eye

It seems, last night, I may have cried

But I know they were tears of joy

And as I roll out of bed and my feet hit the floor

I thank the lord for not taking the ground from up under me

Then my back touches warm sheets

At a place were two slumbering souls meet

And eyes that were once open

Are now closed

And it shows

That I am not ready to wake up

And I don’t want to do the same to you

So I will go back to sleep and meet you in your dream
