Opinion EmbargoA Poem by Daniel Valentine RiveraWritten: June 25, 2017The power of written word is a talent that I have wasted, for fear of negative reception and criticism. I've always garnered enemies and they always act intolerable towards even my smallest mannerism. Am I wasting my breath when I say something polarizing because I don't have many devotees? How far can my voice travel if my opinion receives unsettling reception from people who don't agree? The ones that are heard by society are the ones that speak the loudest. Those individuals just love to hear themselves, they deem themselves the proudest. Let them have their fun because people will never care if they're pretentious. In the direction things are going, this world will never come to a consensus. People always make space for a debate, but leave little to be desired for me to engage. What with the countless low blow insults and nasty attitudes leaving people enraged. I see nothing wrong with disagreeing with me; on the contrary I gladly welcome it. But note the conversation is over as soon as you say my opinion is invalid or incorrect. Never shall it cross my mind to say my opinion is more important than kindness or respect. Bigotry is too prevalent in this society, and having someone to agree is too much to ever expect. © 2018 Daniel Valentine RiveraFeatured Review
