Denial

Denial

A Poem by Dustin Reichmuth
"

Hindered

"
Step into the spotlight so you can see
The world through the eyes of an actor
You'll start to believe, this is something more.
But you're always chasing, going out every door.
So close your eyes, and step into this light
Maybe someday you'll see
I'm burning here and I can't breathe.
I'm trapped here and I can't speak.
You're such a part of me, and I can't leave.
Step outside your comfort so you can feel
The terrible rising of that ocean, beckoning.
Those glances you steal, never resting, never resting
You're always gonna want that last adventure
But it never seems to come, so come outside and feel.
Maybe someday you'll see
I'm burning here and I can't breathe.
I'm trapped here and I can't speak.
You're such a part of me, and I can't leave.
Maybe someday you'll find.
We're burning here and we can't breathe.
We're trapped here and we can't speak.
We've been apart from each other, but we can't leave.
