There's Gonna Be Books About Me

There's Gonna Be Books About Me

A Poem by Dustin Reichmuth

Sometimes, I realize, too much runs through my mind.
It's a double edged sword, a catch 22, a catch 21, who cares, no one.
Passed the black jack table, I'll take Russian roulette
You better realize, I always place the highest bet.
It'll be a late night, and you know that's true.
Until you realize, who's in front of you.
Because I, lost track of what I was saying, thirty pages ago.
And I should know by now, this isn't the right way to go.
But I can't turn back now, I've already burned every bridge.
So I guess I'll just move on, and maybe I won't remember it.
The story still moves on, and we're always on the run.
We're chasing that thing called fortune and fame
But they don't know, my name, not yet at least.
So I'll write this down, and I'll roam as far as I must.
Because they'll see, eventually, my gears will never rust.
But I lost track of what I was saying, thirty pages ago.
And I should know by now, I need a better place to go.
But it's too late, I can't turn back, the bridges are burnt.
So I guess I'll just move on, it's a lesson lived and learned.
But I don't know sometimes what goes on in my head.
I have to take a breather, and look back and the things I said.
And I know, it's not very healthy to talk this much.
But you know, I really don't give a f**k.
And I lost track of what I was saying, thirty pages ago.
And I should know by now, this is the only way to go.
So why do I keep taking my time, the bridges aren't here.
So I guess it's time to roll, it's time to face my fears.
