GamesA Poem by Dustin ReichmuthIt's all a game, isn't it? Chess, I think, portrays life rather well.
Right then I realized you were perfect.
As I laid at home in bed. Somehow I knew everything was worthless. Without you here instead. In this moment, I made a deal with the devil. I'd put my body on the line. In return, I'd be put on your level. To make this easier in time. So, I marched, right into, the hell of this world. All, of this I have, given up, just for one girl. So, I took, it in my own hands, I thought it felt right. Who knows, if this, was the right choice, I'd die tonight. Alone, among many, I wondered in mind. As I tried to quiet the screams. Because these times have not been kind. No one else knows what I mean. Lord knows, I gave it all away, sad to say. I made a pact, that right on from this day. I'd be the perfect little soldier. For the devil's chess board. In return, I'd be given once the beholder. But you cannot help me lord. So, I marched, right into, the hell of this world. All, of this I have, given up, just for one girl. So, I took, it in my own hands, I thought it felt right. Who knows, if this, was the right choice, I'd die tonight. All along, I paid my dues. In the end I'd be, happy. But the devil's game's, made to lose. He'd stand there laughing. I'd fly my way back home. Waiting to see my wife. But the deal I made, not to be alone. Destroyed her pretty life. © 2011 Dustin Reichmuth |
