Sight Lines

Sight Lines

A Poem by Dustin Reichmuth
"

Beauty is often wasted, and it's often a mask for ugliness.

"
Dehumanize so they can't break you down.
Dead to the clock, don't need you around.
Choir is singing, oh singing too loud.
Nobody knows what they're talking about.
Shine unto water, so they see your fake hand.
A lamb led to slaughter, they'll see you again.
Step to the screened image, fade for the end.
Chime in to the lost melody, harmony will mend.

Never have I seen a life so untouched, by the surroundings.
Never can I yield my power, to give you something undying.
Only to see something so beautiful, so beautiful.
Only to see something so beautiful, beautiful.

So drink with delight, part ways with the meaning.
Riddled with broken tablets, rise high to the ceiling.
Mesmerize and hypnotize, feeling is believing.
Not once have I seen something quite as relieving.
Open the door just to look and to find.
Trouble's behind you, they'll be back in time.
Just hope for one second, this tiny tiny line.
Won't bring back the demons, hidden inside.

Never have I seen a life so untouched, by the surroundings.
Never can I yield my power, to give you something undying.
Only to see something so horrible, so horrible.
Only to see something so horrible, horrible.

Just lift your head up, so they can see you as you are.
Lost, little lonely, innocence stretched too far.
Heightened sense of question, doubt and despair.
This love that I have felt's no longer mine to share.

Never have I seen a life so untouched, by what ever's around it.
Never can I yield away the things I've seen, protect, surround it.
Only to scratch, claw back and plead.
Open up the wounds, I'd bend and I'd bleed.

Just to see.
