MedleyA Poem by Dustin ReichmuthThe urgency is certainly present with the ever-changing tone of voice.
Saw it burn away, from yesterday.
I thought by now, I'd seen everything. I only write when I hurt I only sing when it burns I lose control, and I can't learn. I block it out, but it's too hard. You used to be my shining star. But now I just can't get too far. Away from you, and everything we knew. I fought to keep it, I fought to never change. The times we all messed up, came around because I fought so hard to keep it, I fought to stop the change. The time moves so slowly, when I can't speak to you. And I feel, so hellishly lonely, when I'm not near you. I know I'm not so far away, but it feels like I am. And I know that it's hard not to change, but maybe we can. I'll pray that sleep sweeps in soon. Maybe tomorrow I'll sleep until noon. Anything I can do to keep my world from coming unglued. I'll stand here, looking at the wall, thinking How I came to fall, from the throne that I built Spoken whispers, a text or two Suddenly, it comes unscrewed. Passed the bill, took the time. Righted the wrongs, lost my mind. Now that I can't see the future. It's like I'm lost, a lonely creature. So I'll quickly light this fire. And they'll label you and me a liar. I'll pray and hope, but it won't matter. As my heart will surely shatter. So this medley of the things to be. Is something you will never see. © 2011 Dustin Reichmuth |
