Boxes, Lockses, HeartsesA Poem by Dustin ReichmuthI think what lies beneath the words, the emotion, is the essence of a good song.
Little Caroline was a liar, and a bad one.
Jennifer never stood a chance. They would never understand. Little Johnny saw a plaything, not a smart one. Bobby never knew what went wrong. They would never even see. What this would come to be. After all of these years. They waited, and waited. But they'd never even know. Where their story would go. After so many years. The feelings faded. Erica Mackey was a harlot, and bad one. Our Johnny couldn't fight her plans. No one will ever understand. Laughing Larry was a con man, a scary one. Shelby never walked again. They would never even see. What this would come to be. After all of these years. They waited, and waited. But they'd never even know. Where their story would go. After so many years. The feelings faded. Jennifer met Erica, and they hatched up a little scheme. "Now let me make sure you understand. We sneak into the room, where Laughter plays with Johnny. And we steal all of their crayons." Bobby heard their cries, like a devil in the night. And he knew not what to do, as he was so in love with you. So he walked into the room, and he picked up the box. And that's where Bobby, set his heart in locks. But they never even saw. Their tragic story after all. After all of these years, We've waited, we've waited. But you never even knew. Just what you would do. After so many years. Are the feelings faded? © 2011 Dustin Reichmuth |
