HopeA Poem by Dustin ReichmuthIt is what you take it as. I can't be the one to tell you what the song is about, I can only tell you how I think about the words I write.
Like you need a needle, the portrait fell
And on a lonely statue, unleashed this hell. Before long you were in my driveway, shouting out. What will you do, what will you do, what will you do. The future's been predicted by, lonely souls. But I know people cannot, fill their holes. Not fast enough, to break away. But fast enough, to chase the day. I say, just give a little more and I'll be fine. And I pray, just give a little chance, I see signs. And hey, hey, this can't be a little lost, when I'm not shining. I rolled the window's down, so I could get some air. As the wind swept by, carrying your pretty hair. I saw the ghost, and I knew it was real. Lives were lost, and they weren't mine to steal. But I always knew, the future had been told. But I always knew, not to let my soul burn cold. I say, just give a little more and I'll be fine. And I pray, just give a little chance, I see signs. And hey, hey, this can't be a little lost, when I'm not shining. Like you need a needle, the mask it fell. And the cold, lost ghosts, unleashed hell. But I saw the doves, and they circled round. And you were protected, and safely bound. They couldn't touch, not even see. They wouldn't rest, but you could be. And so they swept on, and carried all. But you stood tall, Hope wouldn't fall. © 2011 Dustin Reichmuth |
